As for staff development, we continue to recruit globally. In the past few months, my team and I have visited New York City, Boston, Shenzhen, Sydney and Melbourne and we were very warmly received. At the same time, we are working to take care of our existing staff through the People First initiative that supports their personal and professional growth. Over the past year, we organised tenure and promotion workshops and activities such as the 2nd HKUMed Sports and Family Fun Day and New Year Thanksgiving lunch. We also opened the new restaurant 1887 to provide staff, students and alumni with a place to connect and collaborate – with good food! I encourage you to try it. This year we also launched the HKUMed Staff Charter, which outlines our commitment to creating a supportive and growth-oriented work environment that puts mutual care and concern at the heart of our work.
