Clinical Service Excellence Awards 2024 – Winners’ Sharing 2024年度臨床服務卓越獎 ―― 得獎感言 「我能獲頒此獎深感榮幸，亦感謝 評審們對我的工作予以肯定。我一直 致力在香港大學醫療系統的四間教學 醫院為癌症患者提供基本臨床服務及 精準和個人化治療，我衷心期望我的 臨床服務模式能加強並簡化癌症治療 策略。 癌症治療費用可能非常高昂，未必 所有患者都能獲得基本、可負擔和有 效的治療。為此，我一直積極為內地 和本港引進嶄新而有效的治療方案， 亦為兩地引入肺癌和罕見惡性腫瘤的次 世代測序檢測，冀能按照患者的基因 組圖譜分析數據，提供最個人化的治療。 隨著醫療技術不斷進步，更重要的 是秉持以病人為本的理念，我深信我們 的未來醫療專業人員必可為癌症患者提 供最個人化和全面的治理。」 「這獎項是對我多年來提升臨床 服務方面所付出努力的認同，給我莫大 鼓勵。 作為深切治療科專科醫生，我一直 致力在公營醫院以外推動此專科的發 展。我於2020年加入港大醫學院，在 港怡醫院成立深切治療部。我為港怡醫 院引進當時本港私家醫院少有的創新醫 療技術，例如頂尖的體外膜肺氧合系統 （ECMO）。我亦有機會於新冠疫情期間 服務社會，並參與建立病人隔離設施， 這些經驗實在難忘。 自2022年起我擔任學院新成立 的深切治療醫學部總監，並引入新的聘 任模式，招募私家醫生參與教研工作。 我在瑪麗醫院和港怡醫院診症，同時兼 顧教學工作。學院其他部門現已相繼採 用此聘任模式，既有助加強公私營醫療 合作，亦讓私家醫生可為臨床教育作出 貢獻。 有效的團隊合作對維持深切治療部 的優質臨床服務至關重要。展望將來， 我期望可提升大眾對深切治療部在災難 救援以外的工作的認識，並將推動包括 心肺復甦和晚期護理等工作。」 ‘I am humbled and honoured to receive this award and grateful for the panellists’ recognition of my consistent efforts to provide both essential clinical services and precision and personalised cancer treatment in the four teaching hospitals of the HKU Health System. I truly hope that my clinical service model can strengthen and streamline cancer treatment strategies. The cost of cancer treatment can be prohibitively expensive, which impedes access to essential, affordable and effective treatment. To overcome this challenge, I have made substantial efforts to introduce novel and efficacious cancer therapeutics in Mainland China and Hong Kong and to implement next-generation sequencing tests in lung cancer and rare malignancies in the two places, with the aim of offering cancer patients the most personalised cancer treatment based on their individual genomic landscape. With the continuous advancement of medical technologies, and more importantly, a patient-centric mindset, I am confident that our younger generation of medical practitioners will be able to provide their patients with customised and holistic care and treatment.’ ‘This award is huge encouragement, recognising my long-standing efforts to enhance clinical services. As an intensive care specialist, I have sought to advance the specialty beyond public hospitals. In 2020, I joined HKUMed to establish the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (GHK),where I built a dedicated team and introduced innovative medical technologies uncommon in private practice, such as top-tier ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). I also had the memorable opportunity to serve the community and establish isolation facilities during the COVID-19 period. In 2022, I assumed directorship of the newly established Critical Care Medicine Unit and initiated an appointment model engaging private practitioners in teaching and research. I am among those juggling teaching and clinical services at Queen Mary Hospital and GHK. This model, now adopted by other departments, strengthens public-private collaboration and allows private practitioners to contribute to clinical education. Effective teamwork is essential for quality ICU services.
