The Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute (HKJCGHI), a collaborative effort between the University of Hong Kong, the International Vaccine Institute, and the University of Cambridge, held its inaugural symposium on ‘Advancing Global Health Through Scientific Innovation’ earlier this year. Over 110 academic and industry experts gathered to discuss pressing health challenges and pandemic preparedness, with esteemed speakers sharing their insights on 100-Day Mission of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), breakthroughs in vaccine development―including AI-driven innovations, pneumococcal vaccines, and real-world effectiveness data. The symposium underscored HKJCGHI’s commitment to fostering collaboration and driving progress in global health. Professor Chak-sing Lau, Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health) and Dean of Medicine, extended heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished national delegates from the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission for their presence and for leading the delegation from the China Consortium of Elite Teaching Hospitals to engage with HKUMed’s faculty and students.
