Revolutionising Education with Simulation A landmark achievement for the School was the establishment of the region's first simulation centre accredited by the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH). As the leading school in simulation-based education in Southeast Asia, the centre has transformed nursing education by providing students with practical, hands-on experience, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical application. Embracing Technological Advancements The School has also adeptly integrated cutting- edge technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its curricula and research methodologies. Professor Chia-Chin Lin, the School's Director, remarked, ‘By embedding sophisticated tools, we prepare our students to navigate the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape with confidence and competence. This proactive approach ensures that we remain at the forefront of medical technology, fostering a culture of innovation among students and faculty and equipping them to lead in an increasingly technology-driven field, ultimately enhancing patient care and research outcomes and contributing to the global advancement of the nursing profession.’ Fostering Human Values Despite rapid technological advancements, the School has remained steadfast in prioritising human values in nursing. Professor Lin explained, ‘We believe that empathy, compassion and respect are the cornerstones of effective nursing care. Our Life Enrichment Learning Course is designed to instil these values in our students and foster a global perspective.’ Currently, nursing students can participate in exchange programmes at top universities, short-term study programmes, service and humanitarian activities, and research internships. Pioneering Research Over the years, the School has made great strides in nursing research, spanning critical areas such as cancer and palliative care, gerontology and long- term care, community and mental health, and smoking cessation and tobacco control. Over 70% of its research output is recognised as world-leading or internationally excellent, and its dedication to research has significantly impacted healthcare policies and practices.
