As an important part of HKUMed’s Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Collaboratory (CPHC), the initiative aligns with government efforts to cultivate a robust sporting culture, emphasising exercise as a cornerstone of chronic disease prevention and holistic well-being. Integrating sports health into the MBBS curriculum will provide students with a broad understanding of the importance of exercise adaptation and physical activity, and its vital role in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of major chronic diseases. They will receive hands-on training in exercise prescription, musculoskeletal ultrasound and rehabilitation. Beyond the campus, the initiative will collaborate with District Health Centres to promote healthy lifestyles through community workshops and public education. A dedicated sports health clinic will provide specialised care for athletes and community sports enthusiasts.
