It is with profound sadness that HKUMed mourns the passing of an esteemed alumnus and beloved colleague, Dr Philip Beh Swan-lip, on 2 July 2025. A medical graduate in 1981, Dr Beh was a highly respected forensic pathologist and a cherished mentor. He was an integral member of the Faculty and the Department of Pathology, SClinMed, for over 30 years, serving as a Clinical Associate Professor. Dr Beh’s was defined by his unwavering dedication, professionalism and profound compassion. Through his work, he brought clarity to challenging cases, offering both expertise and empathy to those in need. The Faculty will always remember Dr Beh for his sense of humour, kindness, positive outlook and generosity. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr Beh was a visionary advocate for vulnerable communities. He founded RainLily, Hong Kong’s first crisis centre for female victims of sexual violence, demonstrating his deep commitment to serving others. He was not only a respected colleague but also a source of wisdom and strength. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. The Faculty extends its heartfelt condolences to his family. With deep sadness, HKUMed mourns the passing of Dr Tso Shiu-Chiu, our alumnus and respected former Professor of the Department of Medicine, SClinMed, on 23 October 2025. A 1959 graduate, Dr Tso was a highly respected physician and a firstgeneration haematologist locally. He pioneered work in red blood cell disorders and haematological problems during pregnancy, and his contributions continue to benefit patients. Beyond his academic accomplishments, Dr Tso was a visionary leader and passionate educator who left a profound impact on our medical community. As a founding member of the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences Society, he devoted tireless efforts to promoting medical history and education in our city. His dedication to medicine, education and community service will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
